It reminds me of New England, with its changing seasons, spring snow, and budding trees. I grew up in Rhode Island, known as the Ocean State, from the waves of Narragansett Bay to the thick forests of trees.
Now Florida is home, and for many years I’ve soaked barefoot in the sunshine and listened to palms rustle in the wind. I am longing for its comfort.
I begin my daily journal, “Still in Michigan”… sometimes Mike quotes dramatically from The Lord of the Rings, “I can’t recall the taste of food… nor the sound of water… nor the touch of grass”
I will add to the drama of it all…
I can no longer remember the smell of the Gulf water…nor sandpipers running from the waves. nor coquina seeking refuge in the wet sand, nor parrots squawking in the blue sky….nor watching pelicans diving for dinner”
