Ramblings & Pictures

There is a quiet kind of desperation in feeling out of place, as if you’re flipping through someone else’s pages, lost in a story you didn’t write.

Quite unexpectedly, I’ve landed in Michigan. This Florida girl is cold. And disconnected. This landscape is not completely foreign to me. Born and raised in Rhode Island, I find similarities everywhere I turn. But I’ve lived in Florida for almost 20 years. I call it home.

Although temporary, I’ve decided to look at this detour as an adventure. It’s a longer adventure than I desire, but it’s an opportunity to explore not only a different place and culture, but also myself.  And I am with Mike. So that makes all things worthwhile.

I’ll work on a children’s book I started last year and paint often.  Write more. Eat well. Walk through the woods and talk to trees.

I’ve decided to share this adventure here. Nothing fancy. Some ramblings and pictures.  Poems. I feel like Mary Oliver writing about the landscape in Provincetown, the owls, the trees, the herons… I heard the frogs come alive on a warm day.  An orchestra of joy!

Who can tell what will happen? But for now, my book will be written. Perhaps another after. Songs will be written and sung.  We will work and live our best. Then we will go home.
