I stood in the clearing
and he looked o’er the edge
He said, “Have you food?”
(just in my head)
I did not, my regret
But I sang him a song…
and he stayed and he listened
and let me belong.
I stood in a clearing
still as can be.
Sought not but waited…
and he came to me.
